New Isuzu MU-X Extreme Recovery Towbar Developed

Earlier this year TAG was lucky enough to be a part of 4x4 Australia Magazine's (4x4 AUS) Project build, where they take a stock standard vehicle available to the Australian market - and turn it into a 4x4 beast.

This year was especially exciting as 4x4 AUS pivoted away from choosing a 4WD Ute, and took on the challenge of working with an SUV, deciding on the popular Isuzu MU-X.

TAG was approached to develop a 4x4 Extreme Recovery (XR) Towbar for the Isuzu MU-X, and we were more than keen to jump on board with this awesome project. 

The 4x4 AUS team needed the bar quickly, so the turnaround time between design and production was short. This meant that the final test fit vehicle was on 4x4 Australia's MU-X, allowing us to gain real-time feedback with the team. A lot of the notes taken from this process evolved into improvements that were rolled out in the final production piece. 

We are very proud of the end result, with the Towbar sitting neatly in the rear bumper without sacrificing any clearance, while also adding some genuine 4WD aesthetics to the overall build.

• Zinc Tow Ball & Extreme Duty Drop Hitch rated at 3,500kg towing capacity / 350kg ball weight, Pin & Clip and D-Shackles

4x4 Australia were impressed with the XR Towbar too, here is some of what they had to say:

"I have to admit that I was concerned about how the XR bar would look on the back of a wagon and how much of the rear plastic bumper would have to be cut away, but I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed with the look of the finished product. The bar itself is nicely finished in dark powder-coating to protect it against the elements."
